In the spirit of Ubuntu…

We’ll be heading into the township for the next week and i’m not sure i’ll have internet to post again in that time.

I’m really excited to be a part of a ‘troupe’, and here the work begins. A whole week at least to be with The Champions, connecting, rehearsing and creating our container; to work together, and in which we will hold the performances.

I’m working particularly on creating the space between the performance and the dialogue, weaving together different ‘mediums’ as well as different cultures, across a commonality of humanness. Finding the common ground, the possibilities, the subtle spaces where connection can occur.

The spirit Ubuntu resonates of this connectedness for me, has been very much alive in my experience of being here so far, and is something of which  I want this performance to embody.

‘My humanity is caught up, is inextricably bound up, in what is yours’1
